Memorial Day

In honor of Memorial Day, I visited the amphibious assault vessel, USS Iwo Jima, docked for Fleet Week at Pier 88 on Manhattan’s West Side, in the Hudson River. Thanks to all the men & women in the Navy and Marines who posed for shots for me. They do an incredible job, more than we can possibly thank them for.

While photographing on the Iwo Jima, I met up with one of  NYFD’s Bravest, Firefighter Robert Domingo, taking shots of some of the Fleet Week festivities. He was one of our NYC heros working on the cleanup of the pile at Ground Zero after 9-11. Today he’s part of the FDNY’s Public Information Division as part of the Photo Unit. Great to speak with you on the Iwo Jima. Hope you like the photo:

Last stop today was on Fifth Ave. & 29th St. at the Marble Collegiate Church. Thousands of ribbons line the front of the church, with the names of the fallen from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Truly a moving moment.
