For the past 10 days, an unused portion of the Brooklyn, NY waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park became a pop-up photo gallery in a bunch of shipping freight containers.
Photoville, which started last year by United Photo Industries, an art presentation organization, showcases a variety of photographers’ images, from photojournalists, students and more. Of note was an exhibition of photojournalism in war zones in the Middle East and Africa, some shot by the late Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros, who were killed in a mortar attack last year while photographing the rebel uprising in Libya. There’s also a nice “beer garden” with food and drinks to sit back and enjoy the Lower Manhattan skyline
This is an exhibition truly worth checking next year for both its unique venue and great photography.
