Antelope Island, UT is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake and offers spectacular views — and buffalo!
Being out in the area last week, I decided to do a shoot there. As I didn’t want to just do landscape photography, I hired a model, Kyrie, and used the setting as our backdrop for the shoot. Our session was in the late afternoon to catch some dramatic light.
Here are a few initial selects from the shoot — including one buffalo shot that I shot out my SUV’s window about 20 feet from the beast. They may look docile, but I’d rather have a bunch of sheet metal between me and a 2-ton bison if it decides to charge me.
Tech notes: All images of Kyrie were shot with my Nikon D800. Off camera flash used for the model images for fill light with a Rogue Flashbender light modifier on my Nikon SB-910 Speedlite, which makes for some beautiful light.
