The ferry ride from Lower Manhattan to Governor’s Island took five minutes, but it transported me back some 96 years into the Roaring 20’s.
The Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party is held two weekends each summer over the past nine years and takes New Yorkers back to the age of big band jazz, the Charleston, Lindy and the Peabody; women in flapper dresses, men in seersucker, straw hats and suspenders. And most of all a fun time for all.
Many attendees came dressed to the nines in period costume, while others took in the fun, yesteryear atmosphere.
Here are some images from this weekend’s event. More can be seen on my website.
