Yesterday (4/11/15) was a perfect day for the 17th annual Tartan Day Parade up Sixth Avenue. This parade, while only 10 blocks long, is a hidden gem of parades. Great pageantry, with gorgeous colors of different tartans uplifting and inspiring pipe & drum music and very friendly people — and dogs: there’s a contingent of both Scottish and West Highland White Terriers (“Westies”) that are also part of the parade tradition.
The best part of this parade, in my mind, is at the end, when the bands turn up W55th Street. That’s where most of my images were shot, with some bands still playing, and friendly parade members and their families posing for the images I shot. Here are a photos. Many more images are available for viewing and purcasing on my website: http://goo.gl/6k9uMP.
