Vintage NYC Subway Train, Take 2

Sunday, December 28 was the last day the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), was running a vintage subway train from the 1930’s on the M line, running from stops in Manhattan into Queens. A couple weeks ago a group of NY’ers held a jazz/swing dance on one of the subway platforms and many people rode the train in vintage apparel. Here’s a link to that blog post and images.

Even today I came across people in vintage dress, as well as numerous Japanese tourists both in vintage and street clothing — must be on some tourist activity info, I guess.

Here are some images I made today from my riding the rails, this time with my Nikon D800 DSLR. These images were edited in Lightroom 5, PSCC and either Nik Color Efex Pro 4 or Nik Analog Efex Pro 2.

Odette

Odette-1

Had a very enjoyable afternoon photographing Odette as my model. We used a few different lighting setups, for a fashion look to more dramatic images like this one.

Still going through and editing the various images we made. This one was shot with one light with a 24X32 soft box with a grid to keep the light from spilling on the backdrop. More images shortly.

Tech Note: Taken with a Nikon D800 1/200 sec, f/14 ISO 250, with a Nikkor 28-70mm lens at 50mm

Update: Here are a couple more images I’ve finished editing

Sunset Pin-Up Model Shoot

The local pin-up photography group has an annual photo event at the American Airpower Museum on Long Island, NY, which offers a great backdrop for model shoots. When you combine pin-up styled models and vintage planes from WWI and WWII you are rewarded with some impressive looking images.

These images were shot with my Nikon D800 and either a Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 or Nikkor Micro 105mm f/2.8 lens. The images that I made with flash lighting were from my Nikon SB-910 Speedlite which was mounted off-camera on a light stand, with a Rogue Flashbender soft box.
